Lurgan completes the US Kids Golf North of Ireland Summer Tour double header weekend

The weather was perfect for the second event of the weekend at Lurgan. The course and in particular the greens were in superb condition for the young players.

Although parkland, the dry weather had Lurgan playing like a links with some of the younger players driving the first green.

History was made on the U.S. Kids North of Ireland Tour when Lurgan’s Connor Coleman became the first player to record a hole in one on the 17th hole. Connors excitement didn’t stop there as he had to compose himself and take place in a playoff with Louis Goodman. Connor won the playoff to complete an exciting day.

Boys 6 and under

There was great excitement when Tomas Owens and Parker Bonnes couldn’t be separated after 9 holes so there was a sudden death playoff. Thomas executed a great chip and rolled in the birdie putt to claim his first win on the summer tour. Sevie Trowlen played steady golf to finish third.

Boys 7

Tiernan Bradley completed a perfect weekend with a level par round to take 1st place. Atharva Rajeshkumar matched the 2nd place in Ballycastle with 2nd place in Lurgan. In third place was Belfast’s Carter McLarnon followed by Rory Brown in 4th place with 5th place shared by Rory William Stewart and Harry Thompson.

Boys 8

Ollie McEvoy enjoyed another good day taking 1st place. Zac Hay improved on his 3rd place in Ballycastle to take 2nd from Elliott Andrews and Maddox Meers who shared 3rd place. Adam Doherty playing in his first North of Ireland Tour event since the Spring series was 5th with Lewis McGarry on 6th place.

Boys 9

Harris Fleming and Harry O’Hara swapped positions from the previous day with Harris taking 1st place and Harry 2nd. Lurgan’s Niall Coleman took 3rd from Alex Graham in 4th and Connor Quinn in 5th.

Boys 10

Conail Fitzsimons had a perfect start in his first event on the Summer tour with Paul Fletcher and Oliver Gartley sharing 2nd place. Daniel Hobbs took 4th for the second successive day with an improved score. Drogheda’s Harry Flood took 5th place.

Boys 11

Lurgan’s Conor Coleman won’t forget his performance at his home club, not just for finishing joint first with Louis Goodwin and the exciting playoff but for becoming the first player on the U.S. Kids North of Ireland Tour to make a hole in one!

Louis Goodman has been very consistent with a 1st at Castlerock followed by 2nd place at Ballycastle and Lurgan to top the Order of Merit. Thompson Gedge took 3rd place from Sam Rutledge in 4th.

Boys 12

Michael Wilson enjoyed a good round at Lurgan to take 1st place from Peter Kelly in 2nd. These players are locked at the top of the Order or Merit.

Boys 13-14

Kaeden Anderson and Sheà Williamson shared the honours over the weekend with Kaeden taking 1st place in Lurgan from Sheà in 2nd place. Lurgan’s Alexander Irwin took 3rd place in his first U.S. Kids event followed by Kyle McGillivray in 4th.

Girls 7 & Under

Lurgan local Ella-Louise McCorry won girls 7 & under.

Girls 8-9

There was a good turnout in Girls 8-9 with Lucie Strnadova from London making it a perfect weekend taking 1st place in Lurgan to match her first at Ballycastle. Aisling Totton took 2nd place one shot ahead of Tegan MacDonald in 3rd with Amelia Penrose in 4th place.

Girls 12-14

Lurgan’s Niamh Quinn took 1st place in girls 12-14.
