North of Ireland Spring Tour Order of Merit the Final Positions
Exciting finale at the Tour Championship in Lurgan
The course was in perfect condition for the first North of Ireland Tour Championship. Several Order of merit winners were confirmed and in many categories in came down to the last putt to determine the Champion. Two of the boy’s categories were decided when the leading contenders required a playoff to decide the tournament and the championship.
In boy’s 6 and under, Tomas Owens held onto the lead he had coming into the Tour Championship, a good second place with double points pushed Freddie Mairs past Jack McKee by 6 points to take 2nd place with Jack taking 3rd place. Sevie Trowlen took 4th place with Parker Bonnes taking 5th place from only two starts. Senan Devlin (love the hat) was 6th with Brody Baird finishing with an improved 5th place in Lurgan to take 7th in the Order of Merit. Congratulations to Tomas who, since the Tour Championship, has been invited to take part in the World Championships in Pinehurst.
Boy’s 7 was very competitive with only 30 points separating the top 4 players. Josh Punnose took the honours from Atharva Rajeshkumar in 2nd who closed the gap with a great win in Lurgan. Ollie McEvoy was the wire to wire winner in boy’s 8 with very consistent golf. Harris Flemming took second with a first and three second places. Although playing only 4 events, Elliott Andrews finished on a high with double points and a strong 2nd place in Lurgan moving him into 3rd place. Adam Doherty played steady golf to finish 4th without the benefit of double points at the Tour Championship. Liam Feeney took 5th place, only playing in three events but with some impressive finishes.
John William Burke took the honours in Boy’s 9 from Harry O’Hara and Scott McCabe who were tied for second. This was a very competitive section with only 4 points difference between 1st and 2nd. Eoin Burrows took 4th followed by Isaac Oilver in 5th.
Paul Fletcher won a play off in Lurgan to win the event and top the order of merit. Conail Fitzsimonds was runner up with Oliver Gartley in 3rd from Evan Carlsile in 4th followed by Stuard Nesbitt.

Ella-Louise McCorry’s first taste of competitive golf was completed in winning Girl’s 7 and under. Mollie Douglas won four events to take Girl’s 8-9 from Aisling Totton in 2nd. Gemma McMeekin took 3rd place playing in four events from Tegan MacDonald who finished strongly in her last three events, Amelia Penrose was 5th.
Amy and Cora Nicholl had a real battle for Girl’s 10-11 with Amy winning the last event to take double points and the order of merit from Cora. Ella Proctor was 3rd with Clara Dunlop in 4th place.
Ellie O’Melvena topped Girl’s 12-14 from Billi Henry. Aoife Brown was 3rd winning the two events she played in. Niamh Quinn took 4th place in her first taste of competitive golf.
There were excellent performances by many of the golfers and it will be interesting to see if the performances are good enough for invitations to the World Championships in Pinehurst or next year’s European Championships at Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland.
Finally, thanks to all the Mums, Dads and Caddies for making this a great Tour, we have had players from all over Ireland and Scotland. Good luck to all North of Ireland Local Tour members who are competing this week at the European Championships in Scotland. See you all at the North of Ireland Summer Tour.
