Zoe and Michelle Holmes off to Kenya!
When PGA Professionals, Michelle Holmes and Zoe Allen met Kenyan PGA Professional Emanuel Kasio, they were impressed with Emanuel’s achievements in introducing Golf to children in Kenya. Emanuel, one of six US Kids Master Teachers based outside USA, has ambitious plans to run US Kids tournaments in Kenya and introduce Golf to neighbouring Uganda and Rwanda.
Emanuel sees Golf providing more than an activity or sport to young Kenyans. His vision is
to develop junior golf programs all around Africa that instils a holistic nature of positive self esteem, integrity and sportsmanship character. To offer golf instruction to kids as an extracurricular activity in schools while building essential virtues in each child. It is my mission to ensure that through the sport of golf, kids can learn and participate in community kids programs and become good citizens of the world.
Michelle and Zoe were delighted when Emanuel suggested they visit Kenya to help him out! Michelle, who is based in Virginia and is also a US Kids Master Teacher, and Zoe, a US Kids Top 50 coach based in Lurgan, Ireland, agreed to spend two weeks working with Emanuel, running coaching sessions at,local schools, Kericho Golf Club and Great Rift Valley Golf Resort.
Emanuel has a busy schedule planned and will accompany the girls to neighbouring Uganda and Rwanda in their quest to grow the game of Golf.
Inspired by one of Emanuel’s videos, Michelle and Zoe circulated the video on social media. It was obvious from the video that Golf equipment in Kenya was in short supply. The reaction to the video in Virginia and in Ireland has been terrific with donations of cash and kid’s golf clubs to help Emanuel teach. Michelle and Zoe plan to combine the cash donation and use it to purchase equipment guided by Emanuel’s needs.
Take a look at the great work Emanuel does on his Facebook site Golf for Kids in Kenya.
