What's been happening in 2022
A great start to 2022 with things more or less back to normal after a crazy few years with lots of stoppages in golf.
January 2022 started with the PGA Golf Show in Orlando. It’s great networking and spending time with the World’s Top Golf Coaches, a huge motivational start to the year!
Golf Ireland ran an R&A Women in Golf Leadership Programme which I was asked to be a part of in January 2022. I continued to be involved in all aspects of the course throughout the year.
2022 New Golfing Season
Lots of new golfers decided to take up golf in 2022, great to get to meet and welcome new players and families. For those players and families who have been a great support over the years, I am privileged to be part of your children’s golfing journey.
Along with delivering private and group lessons at Lurgan Golf Club, I also am a U.S. Kids Golf Tournament Director, running local events in the North of Ireland and further afield. 2022 saw lots of exciting trips and events worldwide.
U.S. Kids Golf North Of Ireland
April 2022 kicked off with the U.S. Kids Golf Spring Local Tour at the stunning Ardglass Golf Club. Being a tournament Director for U.S. Kids Golf is a great way to encourage children who come for golf lessons into starting their tournament golfing journey.
U.S. Kids Golf European Championship
Next up I travelled to the U.S. Kids Golf European Championships in East Lothian Scotland for a week. It was great to see so many kids make the trip who had qualified from the North Of Ireland Local Tour. 900 kids from all over the world competed in Scotland, great to see so many different countries represented.
U.S. Kids Golf Irish Open
Beginning of July saw the second edition of the U.S. Kids Golf Irish Open. Organising and hosting a 2 day Invitational U.S. Kids Golf event was a great experience and just over 130 players and families from 40 different countries travelled to the wonderful Mount Wolseley Resort and Spa Co Carlow. An opening ceremony with Irish Dancers and fun competitive golf over the 2 days was definitely a big highlight of 2022!
U.S. Kids Golf Worlds & Venice
Next up was Pinehurst North Carolina for the biggest U.S. Kids Golf Event of the year, The World Championships. This event is the world’s largest junior golf tournament, which really provides a stage for golf’s next generation of stars to shine. The World Championships runs over 3 days with the best golfers from all over the world competing and playing on some of the best courses in Pinehurst.
Returning from North Carolina, the summer travel wasn’t complete without one more international event and one of my favourite events, U.S. Kids Golf Venice Open. It was good to see so many Irish players qualifying and making this a late summer holiday trip!
R&A Leadership Graduation
The R&A Women in Golf Leadership Programme came to a close at the stunning Lough Erne resort at the end of September. I was very proud and happy to graduate from an enjoyable and informative course, learning a lot about how I can help grow the game further as a woman in this industry.
U.S. Kids Golf North Of Ireland Autumn Local tour
Towards the end of September saw the final U.S. Kids Golf Local Tour of 2022, No better course to finish up at the beginning of October than at Lurgan Golf Club.
U.S. Kids Golf Holiday Classic Florida
The final event of 2022 happened just a few weeks ago at PGA National West Palm Beach Florida. A fantastic event just a few days before Christmas, a great event to wrap up the 2022 season.
2022 draws to a close
As 2022 draws to a close I look back on a fantastic and busy 2022.
Coaching is most definitely my first love and I am extremely thankful for all of the continued support. Thank you all for choosing me to be a part of your children’s Golf Journey 2022, it has been a fun filled year!
I am also grateful for U.S. Kids Golf and the opportunities that have opened up and I am excited to be able to bring these opportunities of playing U.S. Kids Golf events to your kids!
Looking forward to 2023!
Happy New Year!
